Surf Print

Based in the attractive coastal town of Largs, Surfprint provides high-quality, cost-effective printed materials for small businesses. Operating in partnership with Largs Printing Company, Surfprint has six highly-skilled, locally-based employees specialising in meeting the needs of businesses with fewer than 10 employees.

They provide a ‘design-your-own’ service as well as design templates that can be customised to suit every type of business. They also give aspiring designers the opportunity to showcase their talents on their website catalogue via their Surfrewards system.

The team’s combined talents have helped the firm develop its own bespoke software, enabling business cards to be boxed and labelled in less than two minutes. This tailored software gives them the ability to offer highly-competitive prices, allowing customers to invest the savings back into the growth of their own businesses. The firm’s easily accessible North Ayrshire location allows couriers to deliver their products to customers across Scotland efficiently and at minimal cost.

They also provide a platform for those with an interest in graphic design to showcase their creations through the design upload function on the company website. Through this tool, aspiring designers can upload and share their designs to the online catalogue for Surfprint customers to use them to create their stationery. The designers receive financial incentives when Surfprint customers use their template for printed materials.

Surfprint’s five-year growth plan includes moving to a larger plant and increasing its workforce by approximately 40 employees. With support from the local Business Gateway and North Ayrshire Council, Surfprint recently secured a £2,000 grant which will assist the business in becoming more attractive to potential investors, thereby supporting it to grow in North Ayrshire.

“I love living and working in Largs. Getting out for a walk with my family along the promenade or in the park when I’ve got free time is an important part of my lifestyle, and I’m happy I don’t have to commute to do that.”
