As a major component of SAFC’s European operations, the company is expanding its Irvine manufacturing plant to include large-scale production of bulk, dry powder media and reagents in addition to its existing liquid media manufacturing capabilities. The expanded facility will support the growing needs of the European and Asia pacific market and will result in redundant manufacturing capabilities in conjunction with SAFC’s current dry powder media facility in Lenexa, Kansas, USA.
The project is being supported by a Regional Selective Assistance grant from Scottish Enterprise. SAFC has a strong affiliation with the North Ayrshire area, and this latest expansion builds upon an earlier investment to the Irvine plant in 2009 to upgrade its liquid capabilities, which was also supported by Scottish Enterprise.
With social responsibility, environmental sustainability and fiscal accountability at the core of its business, SAFC is highly engaged with their local environments and a strong asset to the North Ayrshire area. Their strict efficiency improvement targets for 2015 demonstrate the level of commitment SAFC has to ensuring the areas in which they operate continue to thrive.
